i had retinal detachment in left eye. now i have new iol and heavy silicone oil. vision is little blurry and wonky. its normal for silicone oil? also im light sensitive. thanks so much?

: Do you mean you had silicone band as the treatment for the left eye retinal detachment? Was that done at the same time with the cataract surgery with lens implant? Your vision will not be as clear after the retinal detachment as before even with treatment and I wonder how long the surgery was done.

i had retinal detachment before 4 months. now i have silicone oil in eye and new iol. vision is blurry but with +2 glasses vision is better. if silicone is clear substance why vision is blurry? thank you?

i had 3 retinal detachment surgeries. the first was the scleral buckle then it tore from traction due to scar tissue. it tore a second time they then did the silicon oil method to help. when finished will i ever be able to get the buckle taken off?

Severely: The silicone oil will affect the sight, but eventually it can be removed.  Also, the retinal detachment which required silicone oil was likely severe and that will affect your sight even more.

is taking flouvoxamine 100 once daily safe in this case for 3 month for treatment of panic disorder?

Flouvvoxamine: I'm sure your prescribing physician and ophthalmologist won't want you to discontinue this medication which is important for you. However make sure that all physicians, the ophthalmologist and anesthesiologist know you're taking this SSRI medication that has so many interactions with other meds that can cause the dangerous serotonin syndrome.

Surgical aftereffect: The ophthalmology center that performed your dad's eye surgery should provide follow up appointment to get his eyes checked and suggest tear drops or other medicine as indicated to treat the resultant dryness.

Months: Silicon oil is used as a vitreous substitute after retinal surgery.  Over the long term it can cause corneal opacification, glaucoma, cataract, and emulsification of oil. These effects may require earlier removal.  An unstable detachment or hypotony may require later removal.  If things are stable after a month, surgery could be done then. Individual risks vary. Please discuss with your surgeon.
