Probably not: Throat clearing is often due to irritation from drainage from the nose or sinus region or reflux of acid from the stomach.

Sure but not exactly: Especially in the cold and flu season, everybody has occasional itchy throat, scratchy throat, sore throat, throat clearing, or occasional cough. Thus, people with lung cancer have such symptoms just like the billions of other people without lung cancer. Since lung cancer is somewhat rare, one cannot say that all of us have the signs of lung cancer. It's a sign but a useless sign of cancer.

Possibly: Lung cancer may spread outside the lung either locally or via blood or lymph channels. A lump on your head may or may not be related but it should be checked by a physician and may need to be biopsied depending on what it looks and feels like.

: Lymph nodes are collecting areas within the lymphatic system for all manner of immune cells and antibodies. If there is a malignancy or infection, the lymph nodes nearest the site will become inflamed. If the infection is extensive or there is a malignancy, there may be involvement of further away lymph nodes.

Yes: This is a common way for lung cancer to present. A biopsy will tell for sure. I am glad you are there for your mother at this challenging time.

I hope you: Have quit smoking and tobacco. Your neck cracking, if related to lung cancer, would be advanced, but it is more likely to be non-cancer. This needs a doctor, an exam, and imaging if necessary to address your concern.

evening dr my husband im suspecting his got lung cancer we just waiting on results cause the x rays shows some lumps in the right lung. what can i do in this situation and his complaining about headache and his surviving on pills.

Possible,,,: Lung cancer can result in superior vena cava syndrome where the big vein that goes from your head to your heart is throttled by the cancer, resulting in a bulging neck vein.  So it can be felt.

Probably not: Yes, recurrence of lung cancer is unfortunately possible and common.  However, presuming you have received appropriate lung cancer care and the appropriate follow-up, your multi-disciplinary cancer team would likely be able to identify a recurrence or new  lung cancer.  I advise you discuss with your cancer team.

Jury is out: The jury is out on marijuana and head and neck cancers.  There is conflicting data on this and and very few studies.  No association has been found between marijuana smoking and lung cancer.  Again, though, not many studies have been completed.  There are carcinogens in marijuana so be wary.  There just isn’t enough data at this point to feel confident yet in these relationships
