See below: Since Meloxicam is in the class of nsaids so stomach upset, reflux and ulcers are possible. Other GI complaints are possible. Other risks include elevated blood pressure and other cardiovascular issues, swelling of the legs, decreased kidney function, rare skin rashes, headaches. Labs need to be followed while on nsaids included meloxicam.

Not major in most!: Meloxicam 15mg is one of my favorite nsaids.  24hr duration, (best taken at supper), and is one of the least likely to cause GI upset, which it can, but compared to Ibuprofen and others. $10 for 3 mo supply at kroger's, walmart, costco, target, and others.
Can cause fluid retention in some, an increased bp, and in people with marginal reanl function, a further deterioration. Still, very safe.

No.: No.  Meloxicam need be taken once daily usually supper and acts 24hrs   Naproxen has to be ingested twice daily.  Side effect profiles are similar, but several european studies agree with my view that Meloxicam is safer.  Nonethless both increase risk for GI bleed, fluid retention, and can adversely affect kidneys.  If taken chronically, you need to be monitored every three months.

Stomach/kidney: Both medications aqre NSAIDS and can cause both errosive gastriris and GI bleeding, including stomach ulcers. Both medications can cause kidney and occasionally liver issues.

: Side effect profile is similar as they both belong to the so called non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs class or NSAIDs. Given location, you may want to try the topical diclofenac that is available over the counter, talk to your doc about your worries.

Slightly lower...: At the 7.5mg dose, it is a bit safer on the stomach than naproxen, etc. I believe this dissaptes at the 15mg dose.  Major benefit-aa once daily drug. All side effects of any nsaids are listed for Mobic (meloxicam) because of fda "class labeling.".
