OTC medicine: No antihistamines, decongestants, or cough medicines are recommended for infants. They have an increased chance of side effects from these medicines. Try saline nasal drops

Calcium: for most people, one calcium tab twice daily containing 500 -600 mg elemental calcium is a good dose.  There are many brands, virtually all acceptable.

Accepted Answer

No: Colds are caused by viruses. Colds have no cure and are self limiting. Aim is to make the infant / child comfortable. Febrex plus syrup has paracetamol(safe) an antihistamine called chlorpheniramine( not safe)  and an oral nasal decongestant phenylephrine(not safe). This combination shd be avoided in infants and children. Can cause dryness, sedation, irritability at times and high BP.

Infants, Kids: and adults have the same normal temperature...but it may vary within a RANGE and be different in each individual. Because of occasional bad reactions to aspirin I suggest Acetaminophen Syrup...(Pediatric) FOLLOW DOSAGE RECOMMENDATIONS CAREFULLY! I hope this helps!

MSUD: Some examples of foods high in protein include all types of meat (e.g., chicken, pork, beef, seafood), all types of dairy (e.g., milk, yogurt, cheese, whipped cream, ice cream, etc.), all types of beans and nuts (e.g., soybeans, pinto beans, peanuts, etc.), and eggs. People with MSUD must also learn what foods have some amount of protein and ways to measure how much. Each individual, depending on the severity of their disorder, is given a daily limit of the protein they can eat. It is okay for people with MSUD to eat some protein because, unlike an allergy, the protein will not cause them to have an "allergic" reaction. In fact, people with MSUD must eat some protein every day as everyone needs some in order to get some leucine, isoleucine and valine for growth and development. The trick is not to eat too much. This is done by learning to count and keep track of the amount they consume throughout the day.

I would see a Dr.: My concern is that your child may have some breathing issues. I would get your child examined with a doctor for thorough history and physical. I would not recommend any nebulizer treatments unless already prescribed by your doctor.

Try teething rings: One appropriate dose of Tylenol (acetaminophen) a day is probably not going to cause any harm, but you do not want to get the child used to taking an oral medication when it may not be needed.  Try teething rings.

is it ok to take bromfed (brompheniramine) dm cough syrup with infant acetaminophen? is there a waiting period before giving between the two?

Accepted Answer

Not specifically: It is good to wait long enough to see that the kid has kept it down. A few minutes is al that would take. The meds don't interfere with each other but sick kids often have a sensitive stomach & too many meds at one time will often make them spit up.

i'm 38 weeks pregnant, would taking more than the recommended amount of chewey tums (calcium carbonate) hurt me or the baby?

TUMS (calcium carbonate): You should not take more than recommended amount of medication. If you are not having symptom control with the Tums (calcium carbonate) ask your obstetrician for other alternatives. Take care!
