See physician: Sharp, stabbing chest pain is usually a simple problem like spasm in the intercostal muscles but in order to be sure you should be evaluated by a good physician. After taking a history and examining you they might order some imaging studies to make sure there is nothing more serious going on.

Rib cage: This is likely from coughing too much causing inflammation at the rib cage. Try ice pad or heating pack- depending on which works well.  It should improve in a few weeks after the cough has subsided.

i have had a fever for 3 days, now i have stabbing pain in my left lung. it hurts to breathe, cough, and move. what is wrong with me?

Impossible to know: This type of pain can simply be caused by a muscle pull (small muscles between the ribs) or irritation of the lining around the lung; both relatively benign.  However, a collapsed lung can also manifest in this way and would require urgent, if not emergent, medical attention. One must examine you to be sure.  I recommend you seek the care of a physician now.

M.D. visit: It may be due to exercise induced asthma or muscular strain, but I would recommend seeing your PCP.

: The stabbing pain is most likely related to an area of pleural inflammation that is called pleurisy.  This inflammation makes it hurt when you lung moves s you breath in and out.  The pleura is the lining that permits you lungs to inflate and deflate smoothly. Inflammation can disturb the production of pleural fluid which is a lubricant.  Often this rub can be heard with stethoscope as u breath.

Chest pain: The pain you describe is most often musculoskeletal and may be a strained intercostal muscle. It can be due to activity or a cough but if it is at rest, is associated with shortness of breath, chest pressure or other similar symptoms seek immediate medical attention. Women often have less signs of a heart condition and their first event is often a more serious one then men.

Reproducible pain: Given your age,  reproducible pain is musculoskeletal,  intercostal  musce/rib pain. Use Naproxen or Ibuprofen for a few days and if no improvement get a back/rib alignment from an inexpensive chiropractor for just a couple of visits.

Sounds like chest: wall muscle spasm. If no other symptoms and it does not recur,you are fine. If it recurs,see your Dr.
