Maybe carpal tunnel: The location of your symptoms are consistent with where your "median nerve" is located.  This is the nerve injured in carpal tunnel syndrome. There is also an ulnar gutter in the elbow where another nerve, the ulnar nerve is located.  (Though that would not really explain your fingers).  Carpal tunnel is  often with excessive use of hands in repetitive movements.  It also occurs during sleep.

Finger pain: Tough to say what this is without an exam, ... Could be a simple sprain of your finger you suffered during sleep, may be mild arthritis in the joint, etc.  Get eval from a dr. If this persists and get an official diagnosis and treated accordingly.  Bet wishes.

See your doctor: This should be evaluated by seeing your physician to rule out an infection of the hand which could be crippling. Other causes could be due to inflammation rather than an infection and may be treated appropriately by immobilizing the affected joint, or through medical treatment.

CTS or fasciitis: Since the pain is worse with wrist movement, the problem is likely at or below wrist level.  Carpal tunnel syndrome, in which the median nerve gets pinched at the thumb side of the wrist, can cause it.   Plantar fasciitis, which is inflammation of the connective tissue in the palm of the hand, is also possible.  If it doesn't improve promptly with rest and OTC pain meds, please get medical care!!

i am getting a sharp pain when i grip hard object (steering wheel mainly) around 1cm below where the middle finger meets the palm.  what could it be?

Cannot say: in your particular case without an exam. That is a martial arts pressure point, and with enough force everyone will have pain there. A Joint location that can get irritated. Rest/anti-inflammatories clear it fast.
Carpal tunnel is UNLIKELY without more pain in different areas of hand/wrist.
Can be previous fracture/trauma

Get an X-ray : Yes it could be a fracture but the best way to determine this for sure is to obtain diagnostic imaging.

Carpal tunnel?: The pain of a pinched median nerve can cause the distribution you mention.  Usually the pain is in the thumb, index and middle fingers extending up to the forearm.  Usually worse at night to point of having to get up to shake it off.  Appropriate evaluation may need nerve conduction studies and possible surgical release at the wrist.

Pain: Likely some type of neuropathic pain. The distribution of pain you describe would be consistent with carpal tunnel.

Ulnar?: You could possess a pinched nerve at the elbow, termed cubital tunnel syndrome.  Sometimes, nerves are pinched at the wrist and cause similar symptoms.  Check with a hand specialist, get diagnosis confirmed, and treated.
