Ultrasound finding: I'm assuming you are referring to a finding on an ultrasound?  "Shadowing" is an US term that describes a feature of masses seen on ultrasound.  It is one of several features that are evaluated on the US. Shadowing is generally a more suspicious finding, but by itself it does not mean there is cancer, nor does it mean cancer is even likely.  With other findings, it may indicate a need for biopsy.

You need to ask!: Usually mammographers give you good advice right away, but sometimes they just report to the doctor who ordered the test. In any event, if you want to know a test result, you ought to ask!

Depends: Every mammogram contains shadows, since shadows are created by normal breast tissue.  They are also created by benign conditions as well as by cancer.  The variation in the radiographic findings give information to the radiologist to suggest the likely cause.

Yes it is possible: A shadow is a non specific finding on a mammogram and could represent movement. a fold in the skin of the breast,  dense breast tissue, or potentially a more serious mass, so a repeat mammogram or perhaps an ultrasound may be done to help identify the suspicious area. Besides being uncomfortable, it would be natural to feel somewhat anxious, but try to think positive until follow up. Good luck.

No: Many a times you may have abnormal findings but not all of them lead to a biopsy . However, i would advise an appointment with a breast surgeon.
Mri also may be helpful.

should accuracy be questioned of us/mammo results when symptoms are present? ie: new asymmetry on mammo, pain, swelling, "crawling" feeling inside?

Mammography: Sensation you describe do not mean there is a breast cancer.  Breast cancers rarely present with the sensations you are describing.  Mammography is one of the best tools available to find even very small pre-cancerous lesions.

34 y/o, had mammo that showed an "area of concern." had an u/s on mon and said i would hear back in 3-5 days, dr checked but no report yet. bad news??

Possibly: Area of concern on mammo can only be defined by excisional bx.  Sono can only define if there is fluid in a possible lesion or a discrete area in a widened area of fibrosis. If lesion is borderline lesion in terms of microCca, then a repeat mammo in 3-4 mo to define if progression in microCa is occurring.  Then bx is definitely a requirement.

6 month follow up cpt 76645,77067,g0202 dx n64.89 does anyone know if this cpt is for a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound on my script?

Ask radiology place: One can just ask the billing person at the radiology place. It may be that 76645 is for "breast ultrasound," and 77067 or G0202 are for "screening mammography" and not "diagnostic."
