Pain: Your doctor should provide suggestions on that as well. He may choose to give you a pain killer prior to that (called premedication). The choice should be his since he knows you better.

i had a septoplasty and nose polyp removal. i don't seem to feel any benefits. is this typical? i honestly feel worse now than before.

See your specialist: Make sure you are doing everything your doctor told you to do. Make an appointment with the surgeon to discuss your symptoms and to get an exam.  You may have some swelling in there.

Lots-but only 400...: Characters in answer. Nearly immediate swelling, difficulty swallowing, post-op improved upper airway that can change/deteriorate in time. Uppp 'can' cause inability to seal mouth, food/drink 'backup' into nose, choking while reclined and may not eliminate snoring. Tongue reduction hilghly invasive-swells, then shrinks to improve osa, but can relapse. Have u considered all non-surgical options?

post-septoplasty. saw doc 10/23 for stitch removal (didn't dissolve). he says looks good. but i'm sneezing alot. mucus is thick but clear. why sneeze?

Reflex: Could be related to the nondisolving stitch that's causing a reflex sneeze when you breathe in or tickles your nose hairs, or depending on how it's healing. Mucus is to be expected post-op nose surgery. Good that you are in the clear!

septoplasty, nasal turbinate reduction, & nasal polyp removal surgery 6 weeks ago. nasal irrigation 4x a day but i still have bad headaches day/night.

Cause not treated?: If the cause was sinusitis and your surgery did not include sinus surgery, you probably still have sinusitis. There is a possibility also that your headaches have nothing to do with the conditions of your nose.

Steroid v saline: I am not an ENT and don't do septoplasties,but I frequently prescribe both steroid and saline nasal sprays for chronic rhinitis and other nasal problems. Nasal steroids are excellent topical decongestants without problem of rebound congestion, and saline moisturizes and rinses irritants, and some degree of decongestion. In your case, the two should reduce swelling, soften dried blood/prevent bleed

ct & mri shows 11mm rght sphenoid sinus cyst. extreme right sided facial, head and neck pain, pain behind right eye, host of other symptoms. ent says cyst isnt my problem. gave me septoplasty, bone spur removal, turbinate reduction. symptms remained?

Get another opinion: If the surgery wasn’t helpful, you need to get to the answer somehow, what did this ENT say after you told them persistent pain still there ? Look elsewhere and find a reputable other ENT for a fresh opinion

had a septoplasty and my surgeon never used any packing and removed my stents the day after my surgery . is this normal ? will i i have scarring now?

No worries: Historically many ents have placed packing which was left in place for several hours up to three days.  Over the past decade most ents have switched to silaastic (a semi rigid silicone and plastic polymer) splints.  Splints when used are left anywhere from 1-8 days.  Some ents do not use packing or splints.  Removing splints on the first day after surgery does not predispose you to scarring.
