No worries: Historically many ents have placed packing which was left in place for several hours up to three days. Over the past decade most ents have switched to silaastic (a semi rigid silicone and plastic polymer) splints. Splints when used are left anywhere from 1-8 days. Some ents do not use packing or splints. Removing splints on the first day after surgery does not predispose you to scarring.

Try not to 2nd guess: It can take a lot of work to second guess your physician and it is best for you to allow a degree of trust in tour care tomyour physicians. There is an increasing trend to sew the two "leaves" of the septum together negating the traditional use of packing which is far more comfortable for the patient. Your scarring is not likely to be worse and your recovery is likely to be more pleasant.
