Splinted?: Is your daughter's fracture been splinted?How do u know she's losing circulation to the finger?If u feel she is call your ors ( or whoever is on call for him) right away and explain situation or go to the er.Check w/ surgeon before loosening the splint bandage . This is something that needs examination quickly . Best of luck!

Eight weeks: Usually take between six to eight weeks for an adult, children heal a lot faster depending upon the age.

Pins and needles: Maybe your fracture is causing the problem but you may have a pinched nerve somewhere else like your neck. Check with your doctor and maybe get a nerve test (emg).

i have a hairline fractured kneecap that is two weeks old.  it cleared up somewhat (the swelling down).  now it warm to touch.  is this a problem?

Infection?: Whenever an area is warm to the touch, i wonder if there is an infection present. An infection in a joint or bone can require lengthy antibiotic treatment. See your doctor about this, an go into the er if you have no provider available.

fractured my scphoid a year ago, and just received surgery two weeks ago.they put a screw in. can i start trying to bend my wrist if i am careful ?

Get repeat exam: You should get a repeat exam by an orthopaedic surgeon and new xrays of your ankle to evaluate for the possibility of posttraumatic arthritis.

hi, a surfboard went into my back two days ago and i think i may have fractured a rib as it was and is very very painful. should i see a dr and get xrays? i would also like to know what painkillers are best for this type of pain.

No.: Fractures don't lower bone density.  Low bone density produces fragile bone which is more susceptible to fracture.

i fractured my hand two days ago. is it a good idea to keep writing to make it heal faster?

Accepted Answer

No: It would probably heal faster with stabilization and/or immobilization. If it is a small, trivial fracture (like a small chip fracture), then it probably doesn't matter as much. You should speak to the person who made the initial diagnosis since that person knows the extent of your injury. If there is any doubt, you should be seen by a qualified hand surgeon.

please tell me what type of cast would you wear if you fractured your ulna about an inch or two from your elbow?

Long arm cast: Principles of fracture immobilization require immobilizing the joint above and the joint below the fracture.  Therefore the elbow and wrist must be included in the cast.  This is called a long arm cast.
