my 2yo baby is fully vaccinated, got rotavirus last year (5 days mild diarrhea), this year he got it again only for 24hrs (heavier diarrhea), normal?

It happens: Rotavirus is the most common reason for diarrhea deaths in the world among infants. Before the vaccine it was responsible for most infant dehydration admissions in the US.The vaccine provides protection against several strains of the virus &amp; has cut down the hospitalization rate substantially. However, infants &amp; toddlers are expected to get diarrhea yearly. If it keeps them at home it is worth it.

The best things to: eat are bland foods, what we call the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples, tea, toast). For fluids, Pedialyte liquid or pops or gatorade. If he is not vomiting, and won't eat the foods I mentioned, he can have any foods besides dairy, spicy, or fried foods. He may have more loose stools with any food that he eats, but will get better faster if he does eat more.

Mostly fluids: Easy to digest (non lactose) fluids in smal;l amounts frequently. Applesauce and jello are usually ok and crackers.  Watch his tongue--if it does not stay moist, then go to the ER

my 4 months son had   the rotavirus vaccine. he apparently hadn't any symptoms. but since he'd that vaccine, he is having diarrhea every day, especially when i breastfeed him. its not so much, but it has been 2 weeks. what should i do?

Normal: The rotavirus vaccine is made up of live but weakened virus that will cause a very mild infection in the patient leading to immunity. Diarrhea is a common side effect that can last up to 8 days. If your child is feeding and stools are slowly returning to normal, then no dr visit is necessary. if your child starts vomiting, is in pain, or has "red currant jelly stool" see a dr immediately.

my son's stool analysis shows positive rotavirus and entamoeba 0 - 1 / hpf. diarrhea & fever. does he require any medication or self healing??

Diarrhea: is best treated with a clear liquid diet.  There is no specific medication for treatment of Rotavirus.  Clear liquids only until diarrhea resolves and then add a BRAT diet:
B = bananas
R = rice
A = applesauce
T = toast (dry - no butter) or saltine crackers
Jello and chicken soup are clear liquids that provide some protein.  If signs of dehydration occur, seek medical attention.

How is growth?: How is the child's growth at the pediatrician's office charts?  If he/she is growing well  then unlikely something to worry about.  Does the child go to daycare?  It is possible there are episodes of viral gastroenteritis.  One thing to think about is celiac disease, which may present with abd pain and loose stools intermittently when gluten in the diet

Much less likely: Three out of four children who had rotavirus vaccine won't have any symptoms at all if they come in contact with the infection; more importantly, almost no immunized child will become significantly ill with it. Keep in mind that rotavirus is only one cause of infectious diarrhea, so perhaps your twins have diarrhea from another cause. I hope they get better quickly!

Not likely: Rotavirus is though to spread via the fecal-oral route, so infection occurs in areas of poor sanitation.  Good hand washing helps to prevent spread of viruses such as rotavirus.

Age dependent: Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhea in infants and young children. But as people get older they develop immunity to rotavirus and other bacterial and viral causes of gastroenteritis are more common.
