i had a root canal done under my bridge  on one tooth a week ago but the gum is still sore i'm on penicillin v potassium 500 mg every six hours. ?

Get Checked: See the Dentist and get checked. It may be normal healing response depending on the complexity of the problem. If still not resolved after the course of antibiotics, then additional treatment may be required. Often it takes months for the discomfort from pressure to subside, but tissue should resolve once infection clears up. Good Luck.

Not as strong: However, it is a great alternative to replacing the bridge, especially if the bridge is fairly new and/or if the fit is still terrific. The restoration (as all restorations) needs to be monitored periodoncally for leakage and recurrent decay. If the tooth in question needed root canal therapy due to marginal decay, you should make a new bridge.

The infection will spread through the path of least resistance, which usually will result in an abscess or fistula on the area of the tooth root. The longer the infection remains, the more damage to surrounding tissues will occur. Get a root canal or ext the tooth & get an implant.
