It's safe: But that bridge may also need replacement. Discuss the treatment plan and possible risks with your dentist.

Safe?: I'm not sure what you mean by safe. All procedures have risks. You should discuss all your options with a dentist you trust. Find out the pros and cons of each option and then make an intelligent decision. Can it be done? sure. Is it the best choice?or a prudent one? We can't tell you that over the internet sight unseen and without x-rays.

Yes: Provided the crown (top part) of the tooth is not destroyed by caries, a root canal treatment will restore your tooth and save your bridgework.
