just last week i received a crown on a lower back tooth after a root canal, and now my tmj is worse than usual, why would this be?

Lots of possibilities: Joint irritation may be due to having to remain open for the dental procedure to be done, generalized stress from the procedure itself, or it may be that the occlusion is just a fraction of a millimeter too "high."  There are many other possibilities as well.  See your Dentist for a reevaluation.

It depends: Root canal treatment involves the patient wearing a rubber dam on their tooth and staying open for an extended period of time.  As a result, this procedure can sometimes increase your TMJ symptoms.

Root canal with TMJ: If you need a root canal, then you need a root canal. The only alternative is extraction of the tooth. These days, with good local anesthesia, a root canal should be painless. If you can't open wide enough, it may be necessary to treat the TMJ problem first. This starts with finding out what the problem is and where it lies, whether in the muscles or the joint itself. This may require a TMJ mri.

More info needed...: Your symptoms, although not unheard of after a long dental procedure, are really not the fault of your dentist. I do not know how long you have been in pain, but these things often resolve on their own after a week or two. Possibly: If the root canal therapy has been completed and the root sealed, it is OK to delay the placement of the final restoration for a week or two. If the treatment has not yet been completed,then there is a risk of contaminating the tooth and having to start over.

: YOUR RIGHT EYE TOOTH STILL HAS A NERVE IN IT THAT IS CAUSING YOU PAIN. YOU NEED TO SEE AN ORAL SURGEON FOR IT'S REMOVAL AND TO BE TREATED FOR TMJ. IF NO ONE TAKES YOUR MEDICAID GO TO THE NEAREST HOSPITAL DENTAL CLINIC THAT ACCEPTS MEDICAID.

having issue with 2 back molars that have root canals pain between the 2 teeth. returned to dentist and x-rays and root canals look good. my bite feels off. could the bite cause pain like this? i also have tmj issues on that side?

: I would try these maneuvers to figure out if pain is a referred pain due to TMJ or due to the tooth problem itself. If you move your jaw without biting your teeth and you have the same pain, the pain you have had with biting is indeed a referred pain from your TMJ. Vice versa, try to move or knock the molars with a small plier, if you elicit the same pain, molar problem is likely the culprit.

Cleansing: The center of he tooth s hollow, filled with soft sterile tissue in health.  Infected, and diseased tissue must be removed.  Root canal treatment cleans out the space, resterilizes the hollow and seals it from inside.  To protect he tooth, it must be properly restored adhesively.

Remove tooth nerve: The dentist need open a hole in the tooth so to get access to the nerve system (the canal) of that tooth.  Then, he will remove the diseased nerve, drain or clear the infection if present, clean and reshape the canal, obturate the system with certain material to seal the canal system. 

You also have to have the opening in the tooth restored and as a standard, you need a crown to protect the tooth.
