"supposed allergy": is the key word, but still we can't clear you to be NOT allergic to PCN, although highly unlikely that you are. Cross reactivity of penicillin and ceftriaxone (rocephin) , is much less than other cephalosporins. If you need PCN and it is the only treatment for your condition, then testing / desensitization can be performed, otherwise there are alternatives, so you don't need to worry

Allergy.: An allergy to a food, medicine, product or anything else, does not appear the first couple of times you take/eat/apply it, sometimes not fora  week or two. Rarely, it can happen after many doses have been safely used  So this could mean you are allergic to the Rocephin (ceftriaxone). It depends on what else is going on, or something else you are taking. Ask your doc if the rash is due to that, or something else

Antibiotic allergy: All antibiotics can cause allergic reactions such as hives and side effects such as diarrhea, upset stomach, etc. Ceftriaxone has a reported hypersensitivity rate of 1.7%, not higher than other antibiotics. It has been used for many years and is popular due to the convenience of once a day IV dosing.

Rash may be viral: You may have not had a true allergic rash to the cephalosporin, but rather possibly a drug rash associated with the underlying viral illness that you were being treated for with antibiotics. Either way, there are other choices; for now, it seems reasonable to state allergy to penicillins and cephalosporins until such time that you may actually needs them, and then we can do challenge testing.

Course is 3-5 days.: It of course also depends on the severity of the infection. If one is being given IV Rocephin, (ceftriaxone) the patient probably has more severe infection. One should be feeling better with decreasing fever or improving WBC in 24-48 hours. A typical course is 3 to 5 days but if kidney infection (pyelonephritis) is involved, treatment can be 10-14 days.

UTI: Rocephin (ceftriaxone) - Ceftriaxone - is a parenteral antibiotic, only can be given IV or IM.  Most simple UTIs need only an oral antibiotic, and 3 days is often enough.  Usually, there would be no indication for a parenteral antibiotic unless you have a complicated and/or resistant infection.  In that case, you may need a longer course of treatment, too.

Minimum 12 hours.: When you are given a shot of Rocephin, (ceftriaxone) usually the drug stays in your body for about 24 hours. So it makes sense to wait for one day before starting the Keflex. Sometimes you can start after 12 hours if the infection is severe.

Rocephin (ceftriaxone) allergy: Rocephin (ceftriaxone) belongs to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.  Cephalosporins are chemically related to penicillin and have been shown to cross react in individuals allergic to penicillin in 5-7% of patients.  The reactions can vary from hives and itching to throat closing and anaphylactic shock.  Giving Rocephin (ceftriaxone) to someone who is allergic to penicillin could result in anaphylaxis.

is there another option for 1 gram of rocephin a day for 21 days to be used as treatment other than in a picc line?  can it be in shots ?

See previous answer.: The real concern should be for the effective treatment of the infection not for the route of administration. You are more likely to have adverse events with 21 "deep into large muscle mass" injections than from a PICC line. You will run out of injection sites quickly and be so sore in your thighs and buttocks that you probably won't be able to walk.
