Course is 3-5 days.: It of course also depends on the severity of the infection. If one is being given IV Rocephin, (ceftriaxone) the patient probably has more severe infection. One should be feeling better with decreasing fever or improving WBC in 24-48 hours. A typical course is 3 to 5 days but if kidney infection (pyelonephritis) is involved, treatment can be 10-14 days.

Rocephin (ceftriaxone) and UTI: first, one has to be certain that it is UTI for sure and an urine culture must demonstrate that the culprit bacteria is indeed sensitive to rocephin (ceftriaxone). An uncomplicated Uti caused by bacteria that is sensitive to rocephin (ceftriaxone) should start clearing up in 5-10 days. Symptoms should start getting better (not resolved necessarily) in 3-4 days. If the symptoms are not getting better, seek MD evaluation soon.
