Many ways: Take solace in the fact that almost everyone suffers from anxious and depressive feelings during their life.  Many times it is normal to feel like this.  Things you can do combat depression include eating correctly, avoiding drugs/alcohol, routinely exercising and staying connected with family and friends.  If you feel you need extra help a doctor may prescribe counseling and/or medication.

Many many ways: While it's impossible to live completely anxiety-free, there are many ways to decrease it.  Physical: exercise, yoga, breathing exercises, biofeedback.  Mental: relaxation tapes, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, guided imagery, mindfulness meditation.  Social: support from friends/family, recreation, vacation.  If you know why you're anxious, tackling the cause pro-actively can be very helpful.

Many: There are many medicines that can help anxiety -- but finding the best one for a particular person depends on what the problem is. The latter might be exactly wrong for some people.  It's best to see a psychiatrist for an evaluation first.

Entrenched anxiety may require meds.
