Every 6 hours: The timing for Ibuprofen is every six hours as needed. However, this will help with pain and somewhat with the inflammation, if thee is still a lot of swelling or itching from the bite, diphenhydramine (Benadryl) may be a good additional medication to try. Cool compresses are also helpful.

Unfortunately, this is not always the case. The anti-inflammatory effects of ibuprofen can allow the condition to escalate, leaving you without the appropriate protective symptoms. You need to be evaluated by a physician to isolate the cause.

You : You need to go to a podiatrist and have it x-rayed to make sure it's not broken.

If it is, taking a lot of Ibuprofen may delay in fracture healing.

Considering you may have a fracture, this is not something you can treat yourself without first getting an x-ray.

Yes: unless you have a sensitivity or allergy to NSAIDS or you have had a previous G.I. ulcer, you should be able to take the ibuprofen for the pain and swelling you're experiencing.

Several options!: When someone has post-traumatic swelling of the knee, i aspirate it immediately.  If there is pure blood, then some internal structure is almost always damaged, i get an mri-if positive, refer to orthopedics. If clear, inject with steroids and wrap.  I see no harm in waiting one week for your appointment.

i'm on 20mg of lexapro (escitalopram) and i hurt my ankle today. can i take ibuprofen to help with swelling and pain. i donated a kidney over a year ago also.

Acetaminophen: Would be a better alternative, ibuprofen interacts with lexapro, (escitalopram) can increase the risk of bleeding, also to preserve the kidney function given that you have a single kidney. Use RICE, Rest, Ice Compresses and Elevation to help your ankle pain and swelling, if not improving, see your doctor, good luck

Side effect: The nsaids have a side effect of retaining fluid and can cause a host of other bad problems.
They are not innocuous pills to be taken like candy. This fluid retention is a serious issue. And you need to avoid these medications

better to find ou what is toxic in your body that needs to be cleansed rather then take dangerous medication to cover symptoms.

slammed ulnar side of wrist on a metal wall yesterday. swelling much worse today, but hurts less. can move it, but cant twist it without pain. have been icing, resting, elevating + motrin. how long should i wait to see if it improves before x-ray?

: If there is point tenderness or increased pain with movement, with swelling, you may need an x ray to determine if the wrist is broken. Wrap the area with an ace wrap gently and avoid moving the wrist. The increase in swelling with icing is of concern. Please follow up with urgent care or your PCP. If badly sprained, a splint may be applied to reduce pain with motion.
