I'm on 20mg of lexapro (escitalopram) and i hurt my ankle today. can i take ibuprofen to help with swelling and pain. i donated a kidney over a year ago also.

Acetaminophen: Would be a better alternative, ibuprofen interacts with lexapro, (escitalopram) can increase the risk of bleeding, also to preserve the kidney function given that you have a single kidney. Use RICE, Rest, Ice Compresses and Elevation to help your ankle pain and swelling, if not improving, see your doctor, good luck

Lexapro (escitalopram): I commend you for your kindness to donate the kidney! Using Lexapro (escitalopram) with ibuprofen may increase the risk of bleeding. The interaction may be more likely if you are elderly, have kidney or liver disease. Put the ice on your ankle and have a family member take you to see Physician for Diagnosis and Treatment.
