In most cases: Yes, in most cases.  The bleeding resolves on its own as it breaks down.  This can be helped along with steroid and dilating drops to prevent complications. In severe cases, the blood cells will block the drainage system of the eye causing an increase in pressure. This may require the blood to be drained flushed out through a small corneal incision.  High pressure causes glaucoma and vision loss.

Blood accumulation may also cause an elevation of the intraocular pressure. Most uncomplicated hyphemas resolve within 5–6 days. Tge key is to be under the careful care of an ophthalmologist.

Follow instructions: Make sure you get checked out by an eye specialist asap. Many hyphemas resolve with little more than time, but they can result in irreversible, painful loss of vision and glaucoma.  Minimize risk of rebleeding in eye by limiting activity and stopping blood thinners.  You should also be on drops that can  keep the pupil dilated, reduces inflammation, and sometimes eye pressure.  Monitor pressure.

No relationship: Hyphema is due to bleeding in the eye, the most common cause being trauma and rarely it is caused by internal eye dysfunction such as diabetes and internal eye tumors.  Smoking will not affect this one way or another but this is a wonderful opportunity to reasses your smoking addicition and to try and stop it altogether.

Emergency: Anyone one with a hyphema needs emergency evaluation by an ophthalmologist. Any delay can have severe vision consequences.

No: Hyphema is blood in the anterior chamber of the eye. This blood usually comes from blood vessels in the iris after surgery or trauma. I see no reason why inversion would cause this in the absence of prior trauma or damage to the iris.

Accepted Answer

Very little: This is a clotted amount of blood centrally in the front of the eye usually wrapping around the iris.  Vision is limited by the dense red clot in the way and generally such an eye can only see light and dark.  Depending upon the cause, the vision can clear completly but there can also be some damage.  You might need surgery to clear it out and need close attention by your ophthalmologist.
