They grow slowly and are not tender unless ruptured.    Surgical removal is performed when a cyst becomes painful   or inflammed.or begins enlarging.  If ovarian in origin, laparoscopic resection is employed and recovery is fast.

A couple weeks: I'm assuming at 14cm they are doing a laparotomy, so typically you'll be in the hospital a couple days up to 3 typically.  Full recovery will likely take 6 weeks, but you will feel much better typically by 2 weeks out.

Yes: Depends on how big the cyst is, you will find out after it has been removed, but you may need to go on a diet after that, it can make your waistline decrease but prob will not do much to decrease your weight, the best way to decrease weight is caloric restiction, after you have recovered from your surgery.

Varies: If the removal is done by laparoscopy then recovery would usually be one or two "down days", but if laparotomy (a larger incision on the abdomen) is performed then expect to not feel great for about a week or two.

Dont affect pregnanc: Dermoid cyst of  the ovary are teratomas containing body tissue such as hair and bone.  They are for the most part benign and dont affect pregnancy.  If found during pregnancy and under 4 cm.  they are left alone.  Larger than 6cm. they may be removed by laparoscopy.  If the cyst is removed prior to any pregnancy the chances are there will be no effect as long as the ovary is intact.

Not likely: Dermoid cysts of the ovary (also called teratomas) can sometimes be resected, leaving some normal ovarian tissue behind.  In addition, while they may recur on the opposite side, most patient just have them on one ovary.  This leaves the other ovary available to produce the eggs (follicles) that you need to become pregnant.  Most dermoids are benign and often contain tissue like hair and teeth.

Usually quick.: If you are having the dermoid cyst removed laparoscopically, the recovery is fairly quick and most people even return to work within a day or two (minus heavy lifting of course). Expect full recover in 2 to 3 weeks. You also go home right after the procedure, if everything goes well. Speak with your surgeon for more info. Good luck!

Wait and see: Dermoid cysts only need to be surgically removed if they cause problems. They are not infuenced by diet.

A few days: If all goes well, you should be able to do your usual functions in 2-3 days. Do discuss the matter with your doctor so that s/he may advice about avoiding some activities that may be in your routine, for a few days more.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.
