i have intraparotid lymph node in peft side 1,2 cm. i did ultrasound there ue said its reactive no other issues. but i worry. sometimes i feel there like tightening. how long it goes away? should i worry abou it?

: Is there dry mouth? The tightening may just reflect muscle tension because you are anxious or because of mild inflammation. You may want to drink water intermittently to reduce bacteria in the mouth by washing away. The lymph node is so small that you may just want to watch and wait rather than being anxious. You are going to follow with your local medical practitioner anyway in a few weeks.

Possible: If the lymph node becomes scarred (fibrotic), the enlargement will stay for years.  But it should not get larger.

Don't worry too much: There is a network of lymph nodes in the head/ neck region.  When you have a cold or upper respiratory infection, sometimes they become more prominent.  They usually go back to normal in time.  Sometimes they don't.  If they stay enlarged, then it's worth taking a closer look by having one removed and tested.  Most times they are just chronic inflammation, but it can be infection or rarely cancer.

Lymph node: A normal lymph node looks something like a little kidney. Shape is similar and on doppler small arteries can be seen entering the hilus of the node. There is a peripheral and central zone kind of like renal cortex and medulla. Abnormal nodes enlarge, show loss of normal architecture, and may show signs of mass invasion if there is tumor involvement.

Yes, it's OK.: We all have lymph nodes. When they get bigger than 15 mm in one direction then they need to be evaluated a little bit closer. For now, you can rest easy since these have a normal size.

Probably normal: It's probably a normal reactive lymph node.  It could be reacting to an infection or antigen in your system or be left over from a previous infection.  I would worry if you had lymphadenopathy - if all or many of lymph nodes in your neck were swollen.  If you're taking an US class you could look for malignant features within this lymph node, or have one of your US techs look for those features

It's not THAT big: "Enlarged" is a matter of opinion. Any why do you ask? Unless you feel obviously sick, or a lymph node in your neck is rock-hard, fixed to surronding structures that it shouldn't be, or oversized enough for everybody to notice, it's your friend. It's helping you stay healthy. Leave it alone and stop worrying. I'm had a 1.5 cm submental node since med school.

Normal exam: We all have lymph nodes in our necks. As long as they are not much larger than 15 mm then they are normal. "Reactive nodes" is the term to differentiate nodes that are just slightly larger because of an upper respiratory infection, for instance.
