Lymph node: A normal lymph node looks something like a little kidney. Shape is similar and on doppler small arteries can be seen entering the hilus of the node. There is a peripheral and central zone kind of like renal cortex and medulla. Abnormal nodes enlarge, show loss of normal architecture, and may show signs of mass invasion if there is tumor involvement.
