: Since yeast may be a causative agent in this rash due to friction and moisture,I recommend treatment with an ointment containing both corticosteroid &amp; antiyeast components (like mycolog). In addition,I recommend wearing loose white cotton underwear and avoiding tight jeans or pants. Instead of a prescription, your pharmacist may recommend nonprescription separate ointments, a steroid&amp;an antiyeast

Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. : It could be from wearing underpants that are too tight, allergic  from  detergent, sweat from exercise and area not washed completely. Try an antibacterial soap when washing, if no results see an dermatologist.

Sensitive skin: Rashes in sensitive areas are best protected--like a diaper rash.  Use a heavy protectant ointment like a&d or vaseline to the area.  It will soothe and protect the skin.

Genital rash: It is very hard to say what the rash is.  It may be a simple fungal infection which can be treated with topical ointments purchased in the pharmacy.  If you are sexually active, it could be a sexually transmitted infection which will require antibiotics.  I recommend that you get an evaluation.

Possible fungus.: A common cause of a genital rash and pigment change is tinea cruris, a fungus.  Its treatment is simple; a combination medication is Lotrisone (clotrimazole and betamethasone) cream which should be applied sparingly twice daily.  The rash and itching can usually be controlled with several days of treatment; the medication is a combination of an antifungal with a steroid.  Retreat if it recurs.  If no response, see your doctor.
