on fludrocortisone for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. it helps for a while then i need to up the dose, im now up to .3mg per day. does the body build a tolerance to this drug or something?

Fludrocortisone: Be sure to increase enough salt in your diet and drink adequate amounts of water. Increase in dose beyond 0.3 mg per day may not be effective but in very severe cases of postural hypotension  cautiously increasing dose by 0.1 mg per week until a dose of 1.0 mg per day has been prescribed. This is a very high dose. I wouldn't recommend this without your physicians ok and supervision.

Many possibilities: A TIA affecting vertebra-basilar circulation is well-known to cause similar symptoms.  Postural hypotension would not be the best explanation.  An epileptic event could be considered.  See a neurologist, if possible, and sort out the various considerations.  But if you are having TIA's, this is indicative of a stroke risk, and time becomes of the essence.

To help improve that your physician could change the time or type of blood pressure, use compression hoses to help keep the circulation up when you stand or add other medication to maintain blood pressure. No POTS and: deconditioning are NOT the same....the former is a disorder of the nervous system which contracts the peripheral vessels when upright position is assumed thus causing a drop in blood pressure and a corresponding increase in heart rate! A rapid heart rate is however sometimes due to deconditioning and slow careful exercise will help! Exerciseis USEFUL in pattients with POTS but not "curative"!

See below...: Postural kyphosis means you tend to get a "hunch back" type of curve with standing. It is normal up to 50 degrees in the mid back (thoracic spine). It is abnormal in the cervical and lumbar spine. It can be corrected with postural exercises, muscle training, and occasionally needs surgery if it is excessive or progressing.

Sure but unlikely: If the spine ie flexible it may correct with posture. Most postural kyphoses are less than 20 degrees but in the immature spine before marked stiffening has occurerd it is possible.
