A member asked:

On fludrocortisone for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. it helps for a while then i need to up the dose, im now up to .3mg per day. does the body build a tolerance to this drug or something?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fludrocortisone: Be sure to increase enough salt in your diet and drink adequate amounts of water. Increase in dose beyond 0.3 mg per day may not be effective but in very severe cases of postural hypotension cautiously increasing dose by 0.1 mg per week until a dose of 1.0 mg per day has been prescribed. This is a very high dose. I wouldn't recommend this without your physicians ok and supervision.
