please assist, i have twin toddlers who are vomiting every after coughing. went to the doctor on wednesday and they are still not well. please assist and advise what could be the issue. the running tummy has stopped but now they are vomiting?

: It appears that your toddlers had viral upper respiratory infection and secretions are accumulating faster than they can bring out. Keep them well hydrated, humidify their living space, vicks vaporub application on the nose and nostrils can open passages to drain secretions (sparingly and not very often). You can give age appropriate nasal decongestant, expectorant. Hope it helps, they get  better

my 8 month old has a bad cough and lots of mucus. he keeps throwing up after coughing is there anything i can give him?

No cough medication: But keep his nasal passages clear with a cool moist environment . Help him clear his secretions by patting him on the back. Feeding him small amounts frequently may help his vomiting. Have his chest checked to see if anything else will help. All the best and make sure his immunizations are current.

Cough & Vomiting: Post-tussive vomiting is certainly a possibility.  This can be caused by severe coughing.  I would be concerned with the most common causes first, such as:  asthma, post-nasal drip, gastroesophageal reflux (and you don't have to have heartburn to have this), and pertussis (whooping cough).  She may benefit from seeing a pedicatric pulmonologist or an allergist.

may include fever, cough, feeling tired, shortness of breath, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, chills, chest pain, nasal congestion, loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Get urgent care for difficulty breathing, blue lips, persistent chest pain/ pressure or new onset confusion

Thinner vs cough: Mucolytics like Mucinex (guaifenesin) or guaneffecin thin out your mucous mucolytic = break up the mucous.

Anti tussive suppresses cough. Often some form of codeine.

what is "post viral tussive syndrome"? i can't find it on webmd.com or in google searches. my doctor tells me i have this. i would like more information. thanks...

Tussive : Tussive means cough.  So it means that a patient has a viral infection that has affected the lungs, and now is causing coughing.  This can be a very frustrating problem but it usually resolves on its own.  If it isn't resolving, or if you have fever or shortness of breath, then see your doctor again immediately.

: Was anything eaten that looks brownish? That is the most common answer in a child. But, if you are not sure, you should call her doctor since old blood can also look brown. If the child is sick or lethargic, you should go to the nearest ER to get this checked. Best of luck to you!
