i had a bump (i think it was a cyst) behind my ear. in the past i've popped them like a pimple. this time i squeezed it and it felt like it popped. but nothing came out. should i be worried about it popping internally? still have a smaller lump?

: If a cyst is infected &amp; filled with pus it has to be drained by a physician or surgeon. If it's not infected but is to be removed it should be excised by a surgeon. I don't think people should pop any pimples,blisters or cysts. Your lesion doesn't appear to be inflamed or infected. If you'd like it removed, consult a surgeon. Otherwise I'd leave it alone unless it enlarges or bothers you.

huge painful cyst on ear lobe. tried popping with a sterilized pin and it bleeds but doesn't seem to drain. it's uncomfortable what should i do?

Cyst: This may not contain liquid matter or pus, and may be a simple inclusion cyst, and you shouldn't try draining it. Have a physician or general surgeon evaluate it for diagnosis and treatment(if needed).

i have a bump right behind my ear that looks swollen & it hurts when i lay down or touch my ear. its not a cyst as ive tried popping it . what could this be & what should i do ?

: Painful swelling behind your ear could be a lymphnode, the mastoid indicating inflammation, may also be others. It is likely you have associated upper respiratory tract or ear infection. If you have pets like cats you may want to get evaluated for infection that may have been transmitted from them. It is difficult to say without evaluation but if it persists get a clinician to take a look for you.

i have a cyst in my ear. can i pop it on my own?

Don't pop a cyst: If you have a liquid "bump" over your outer ear, the danger is that you might cause an infection of the cartilage which is serious and hard to treat.
Best to leave these alone. 
Once you open this, infection enters, infects the cartilage and deforms  the outer ear.

what happens if you pop a cyst in your ear lobe? will it damage my ears permanently?

Accepted Answer

Depends: Depends on what kind of cyst it is.  You risk infection and recurrence of the cyst.  Serious damage would not be expected though.  Before you pop it again, have your ENT take a look at it.  Most cysts, if properly removed, won't' come back.  They are also much easier to remove if they haven't been popped or infected in the past. :)

i popped a cyst(?) just next to my ear hole, and i felt the distinct feeling of the pop and puss releasing. but no opening on skin. is it possible for it to pop deeper and if so, is it dangerous?

: I don't think you had an abcess. This may have been an inclusion cyst which has no pus unless it's infected. Pus will only drain above  through an opening.  See a physician or surgeon if the lump is still present or if there's redness and tenderness.

i have an enlarged lymph node under my left ear could this be a cyst? and why did it just randomly pop up? how can i make it go away?

Facial mass: Masses of the head and neck need to be checked out by your primary care doctor.  This could be anything from a lymph node to a parotid gland mass to a infected cyst.  Without a proper history and physical from your doctor, there is no way to know exactly what it is.  Go see your physician.

recurring lump where jaw n ear meet always thought it was just cystic acne since the skin would thin n pop. recently it has become black w/o touching.

See dermatologist: It may be a cyst in which bleeding has occurred.  In any case, see your dermatologist.  It may need to be excised.

i have a cyst in both my earlobes,the cysts are not noticeable but one earlobe has now got bigger than the other.what should i do?thanks

Possible infection: Cysts are benign. However, they can get infected and they can increase in size. If pain, one would think in terms of infection. If not pain then non-infected size is probably the issue. In the long run, if a cyst is causing problems, it can and ought to be removed. Draining a cyst will get it's size down but it will eventually refill; they have to be removed entirely to be gone

cyst on back on my earlobe popped today, green pus and some blood. what should i do now?

Infection: Apply antibiotic ointment under a bandaid.  If the area gets red or tender, please see your doctor.
