i have a recent diagnosis and dont fully understand what it means. my doctor recommends another uterine biopsy followed by hysterectomy. dx of benign proliferative endometrium with focal glandular crowding. i have a polyp and fibroids in my uterus.

Does not add up: If the doctor recommends removal of uterus, there is no logic to doing another biopsy. You may wish to consult a different gynecologist.  If you are done with childbearing, removal of the uterus should be a consideration.

SISH: Transvaginal ultrasound with saline infusion (sish) is a better test, and done by the gyn specialist who can treat you.

D;C findings : The black tarry is most likely a thick clot that was old in the uterus, removed during the d;c.

Weight loss and pain: Weight gain is possible but unlikely.
Pain needs fairly urgent attention.

Pain with sex ?: Pain with sex in pregnancy depends on the age of the pregnancy and other variables like infection.  Fibroids will usually not be affected by pregnancy or delivery, and adenomyosis once accurately diagnosed, will not "go away" with delivery. Polyps are generally not painful, and will not always "disappear" with delivery.  Pain with sex is frequent in late stages of pregnancy: check for infection.

Requires a visit: The causes of bloating are much too long to give a simple answer. A polyp though would not be on this list. Polyps often cause irregular bleeding and spotting but not pain or tenderness. Start with a visit to the obgyn. They can refer you to a gastroenterologist if that is needed.

You : You haven't indicated what symptoms lead to the ultrasound, but i'm guessing it was abnormal bleeding.  That's a common complication of endometrial polyps, which are benign growths on the lining of the uterus.  They are usually addressed by removal though the vagina.

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors of uterine muscle that can cause bleeding, pain, or pelvic/abdominal fullness.  The fact that one of them has calcium in it means that it's started to regress spontaneously.  Treatment of fibroids depends on a lot of things, including the severity of symptoms, patient age, and plans for future fertility.  Treatment can range from waiting for menopause to doing a hysterectomy.

The polyp may be causing you some bleeding and the fibroids may be causing you some discomfort, but t good news is that the findings suggested by the ultrasound are benign.

i'm 62. i've had had post menopausal bleeding for years. i've had 3 d&cs. due to thickened uterine lining. the last one removed polyp and fibroid. i've had bleeding again but ultrasound showed normal. what now?

Hormonal imbalance.: Postmenopausal bleeding because of endometrial hyperplasia can be frustrating. At root is the imbalance of the hormones Estrogen and Progesterone. As your body reduces hormone production post menopausal, it may not affect all hormones the same. A low level of progesterone relative to estrogen can cause bleeding. Be persistent and follow up with your Gyn Dr for treatment and recommendations.

Hysteroscopy: The less invasive method of removal is by operative resection by hysteroscopy. You should look for a dr. With experience on this.

how can you tell the difference between a uterine fibroid and polyp? i took birth control pills on and off for a couple months.

Ultrasound: An ultrasound done vaginally of the female organs can identify fibroids. A saline infused sonogram is similar but saline (salt water) is gently infused into the uterus during the ultrasound with a small tube which allows polyps in the uterine cavity to be seen. Polyps are usually benign but can cause irregular bleeding. Fibroids can cause periods to be very heavy  and long.
