Get this checked: Though it may turn out to be of no consequence, this is the type of thing that needs to be actually seen in person by a physician. Especially if you have ever consumed tobacco, though it is unlikely, the most worrisome thing would be a cancerous growth. If this is the case it needs to be removed. Call and schedule an appointment with your primary doc or an ENT of you have one ASAP.

is it possible for me to develope cancer in the mouth or salivary gland if no one in my family have any history of cancer at all?

Low risk: Without a family history you are at a low risk for these cancers. To reduce your risk further, please abstain from use of tobacco and alcohol.

Blocked duct: I will give you one of many possibilities. The salivary gland empties into your mouth through a duct.If anything blocks the duct the saliva will back up. Trauma or a calcium "stone" can block it. You can try to reopen by sucking on sour sugarless hard candy for a day. Not going to harm anything. If you have any doubts check with your physician or dentist.

can face wash with triclosan that got in mouth, or toothpaste that contains it, cause salivary gland tumors?wouldnt more people have them if it could?

Unlikely: What you described is unlikely to result on salivary gland tumors or any other disorder.

Contin. biotene: Biotene is safe to use long term so keep using it if it is solving your dry mouth problem. Should not cause any problems to salivary glands, but if your mouth is dry, then there may already be problem with gland. Often decreased salivation is a side effect of another medication you are taking.

i have had this squishy lump near my tongue on the floor of my mouth for years. it is mobile and not painful. an oral surgeon looked at it once and said it was probably my salivary gland duct? what does that mean? should i be worried?

Salivary cyst: It is most likely a benign salivary cyst. They can get bigger when they fill with fluid.  If it bothers your you should have it evaluated by an ENT doctor.

swollen lymph node under tongue along floor of mouth for over two years. dentist said not a salivary gland and to get biopsy. should i be concerned?

Oral surgeon: The best solution for you is to see an oral surgeon for a biopsy.  It could very well be a swollen salivary gland or a sialolith.  Salivary glands are more prevalent than most dentists realize and many times the oral surgeon will remove the entire mass when they do the biopsy.  Don&#x27;t get too worried as it is most likely not anything to fret about.  Best of luck!

i started using listerine natural mouth wash, which contains alcohol, menthol, and eucalyptus oil. can this cause salivary gland inflammation/swelling?

Listerine: Listerine is effective at reducing gingivitis however if one has a dry mouth the alcohol can make it drier.  As with ant other product the can be sensitive to some ingredients.  Typically Listerine does not cause inflammation but everyone is different.  Don't use the Listerine for a few days and see how your mouth feels.  If the inflammation persists then see a dentist for an evaluation

hi i have a small clear bubble thats mildly annoying on the inside of my mouth just under my bottom teeth on the lower gums. i believe its a clogged salivary gland or something but any ideas? is it possibly something to be concerned about? thanks?

: This sounds like a mucocele -- as you suggest yourself, a blocked gland. Entirely harmless. Google it to see photos.
