See a foot doc: You get the callous due to friction. If you can elimikinate the friction or that which is rubbing you can solve your problem once and for all.

Remove callus.: Try using utterbalm under occlusion to soften callus, warm water soaks followed by pumice stone will help remove callus. Be sure to wear supportive shoes with arch supports. If problem continues then see a podiatrist to help diagnose and treat the problem.

my pinky toe has rubbed a callus between my toes. i keep removing the callus, but it always comes back. what needs to be done to fix this problem?

Specific X-rays.: More than likely, under-lying toe bone, along with shoe pressure, are causing the problem. Have your foot x-rayed and request that a small lead marker be taped to the callus. X-ray your foot, both with and without your shoes on. The image should show both the callus area and the underlying bones that are potentially causing the problem. The choice will be to change shoe style of remodel the bones.

Maybe not a wart....: A bad corn or callus on a 17 year old, although possible, is not all that common. What is common though, is the possibility of a wart. Callus is formed from pressure applied to the skin over time. The pressure causes the skin to harden for protection. Remove the pressure and the callus goes away. A wart is a virus infection. Although it may go away by itself, don't count on it.

why does the callus on my pinky toe get red when standing or sitting and what can i do about it? it's been like this for a month and it doesn't seem to get better. i did have a heavy foot pedicure, could that be the cause? it doesn't seem infected?

: Does it get less red when not standing/sitting? I fit stays red, you should have a doctor look at it. If it gets red but then gets less red, it could be when there is increased blood flow, it gets a bit red but then returns to normal color. If there is any pain associated with it, see your doctor. Nerve problem.: There are small nerves in the toes called digital nerves. When these nerves are irritated, such as from repetitive pressure as can occur with running or tight shoes, it is called a "digital neuropathy." these symptoms are also sometimes caused by a problem in the lower back, a "radiculopathy.".

Wart or callous?: Hard to say based on your description. Strange for a kid to get a single callous on pinky toe, although I suppose it is possible. It is more likely a type of wart, for which an OTC salycilic acid preparation may be used. Neither callouses nor warts "swell." They do grow in size; but if there's swelling or redness, that is inflammation, possibly related to infection, which should be evaluated.

i have a calluse that has covered almost all of my pinky toe. what should i do. i've been using acv but it's only making it spread more. ?

Not a Fungus...: Callus on a toe is often mistaken for a wart infection on the toe. A callus is caused by pressure and a wart is caused by a virus infection. Either way, avc (sulfanilamide) will not work against either condition. Since callus really doesn't spread, so to speak, a wart is more likely. Either consult with your doctor or a Healthtap specialist for diagnosis and treatment.
