mri and a biopsy? what exactly can a dr see when doing a mri of my breasts? i have a lump and am wondering if this test will tell me anything or if i will need a biopsy as well.

The : The breast MRI study allows the radiologist to evaluate the tissue components of the breast and evaluate the blood flow to various portions of the breasts following injection with intravenous contrast. If your doctor recommended a breast mri, the radiologist probably saw something suspicious on mammography or ultrasound. The breast MRI may show characteristics which indicate that the lesion is benign and no biopsy would be necessary. Alternatively, the breast MRI may show that a mass is suspicious for malignancy or may show additional masses. In this case, a breast biopsy is often attempted but in some circumstances the breast surgeon may recommend proceeding straight to lobectomy/mastectomy. Ideally, the goal of breast MRI in this situation would be to avoid an unnecessary procedure, evaluate the extent of a mass prior to surgery, or demonstrate additional lesions which would also need to be removed during surgery.

1,5 cm nodule found in left breast. doc wants extract for biopsy. believes it;s benign. says amongst multiple nodules in the area believed to be benign as well. what's your opinion? no breast cancer in family. please explain nodule. vry dense breasts?

: The doctor who examined you is in a better position to advice you than is feasible in this forum. Talk to him about getting needle biopsy rather than an open one. A skilled radiologist can remove most of a small node with image guided procedure without the need for open surgery.

Minimal help but,: The following may help, lose weight if obese and don't gain weight. Be aware that much of the tissue in the breast is fatty and weight loss and gain can change the breast density dramatically. Many birth control pills may enlarge the breast and pregnancy also changes the breast composition. Ask an athletic trainer exercises  that will tone the breast muscles in the chest without causing increase .

You : You need to see or call your psychiatrist right away. Immediately stopping anti-depressants can be dangerous. 
As far as your breasts are concerned, you may be dealing with an infection or possible side effect from a medication you are taking. It is difficult to say with such limited information. Please see your primary care provider for this problem.

You : You may be dealing with hormonal imbalance, infectious process, allergies, pain syndrome, etc. There are multiple causes, however the only way to find out is to have an evaluation done by your primary care provider. In the meantime try an anti-inflammatory medication like advil (ibuprofen) or Ibuprofen to help alleviate the pain and tenderness.

You need a: prolactin level checked(a blood test)..A high prolactin level could cause milk frm your breasts.

If both sides normal: If it is both of them, you really have nothing to worry about. Sometimes is happens when you have frequent nipple stimulation. If it is only one side and especially if you think there is any blood, then i would get that checked asap. If the both sides thing persists for a couple of months, or you start to have any vision changes, then you should get checked for an overproduction of prolactin.

Breast size: Breast size is often determined by genetics and hormones during puberty.  At 32 you are most likely done growing, so the only way to increase breast size would most likely be surgically with implants.
