Not unusual: Can be there was slight movement of the 12 yr molar when wisdom tooth removed.  Could also be the healing going on in the bone/gums where the wisdom tooth used to be.  If you're concerned call the dentist or oral surgeon that did the extraction and ask if an examination is in order.

OTC pain relievers: For dental pain, i advise my patients to alternate Ibuprofen and tylenol (acetaminophen). If that doesn't help, your dentist may prescribe something stronger such as a narcotic. I do not like to prescribe narcotics because they are highly addictive with a large abuse potential. If I do prescribe narcotics, i advise my patients to alternate it with Ibuprofen every 3 hours. But please follow your dentists direction.

Tooth pain: If your adjacent teeth hurt following the extraction, they may have been inflamed by the procedure, or the pain may be radiating down one of the alveolar nerves. Best bet is to call the surgeon who extracted the tooth.

Speak to surgeon: Call and speak to the surgeon who removed your teeth. He\she can prescribe adequate pain medication for you and discuss what else can be done. Your own dentist is responsible for your care and well being and will know best how to answer your question.

What type of tests?: A lot could be going on, but what level of diagnostic testing has been done? Have you gone to specialists or to one of the oral medicine experts at the dental schools close to you or the hospital dental divisions where you live. You may have a multi- disciplinary issue. Eventually: Expect to eventually wind up in the hospital with an even more serious problem. Infections such as these can spread to other parts of the body and even be fatal. You will have to overcome your fears and find some way to either pay for treatment or find some government agency, dental facility or charitable organization to help defray the costs. Do you not have any family or friend that can help?

See your dentist.: You should not be having the symptoms a month out from the extraction. You need to make an appointment to see your dentist ASAP. However, if your pain worsens, a fever begins, or you start feeling more sick today, you can always go to the emergency room. Get this taken care of ASAP. Good luck.
