Most runners over 70 get used to 'start up' pains in knees and ankles...we assume it has to do with less synovial fluid and less elastin in our connective tissue as we age. You might try doing the letters of the alphabet with feet before running to get the fluid flowing. If continues, consult podiatrist or physiatrist.

Ankle pain: If there was no swelling or discoloration torn ligaments isn't a likely cause of your discomfort. Sprains, stress fractures or tendonitis could be the cause. Consult your physician or an orthopedic specialist for evaluation and advice. Appropriate testing will be done. Physical therapy may be recommended after the assessment.

Possibly: If a broken ankle is not appropriately treated (and running on a broken ankle is not appropriate treatment), it could get worse. It is hard to imagine that running on a broken ankle that is not completely healed will do no good for it. A broken ankle needs to be thoroughly evaluated by a trained professional. Then the patient needs to comply with treatment recommendations.

Depends: It depends on what is causing the ankle pain.  If it is a mild sprain, then it may heal in 2-3 weeks.  If it is something more serious it may need 1-2 months of rest.  It is best to have it checked out and then a more educated guess would be possible.  It is always a good idea to not run as long as your ankle hurts when simply walking.

Ankle pain: There may be some cartilage damage which can be determined by mri. It may be as simple as a biomechanical problem which can be corrected with a running orthotic.

Good be: Where does it hurt? The pain at 18 wouldn't be arthritis. Have you had a previous injury? Could be the strike of your heel position. Studies have shown heel stickers while running do have more foot and ankle problems.

Recommend x-ray: You should seek medical attention and be examined.  You may need an x-ray to see if you have a fracture.

Running and ankle: pain.  There are a number of POSSIBILITIES and you need to see your doc for diagnosis and treatment.  One POSSIBILITY is Osgood-Schlatters disease.  Here's a link

i began running about 7 months again and a few weeks in, i began experiencing fibula pain. the pain is located a couple of inches above the ankle. i stopped running for 3 months until they didnt hurt. i began running again and the pain has returned?
