realized my electric toothbrush has had mold on it for past month. i kept it in a case which was bad idea. has had pink stuff on it which i now know is mold. got new brush now but could my exposure have caused osteomyelitis and cause bone loss i face?

Toothbrush: It is highly unlikely that a dirty tooth brush would cause osteomyelitis.  Keeping the brushes clean and disposing of the brush and getting new ones periodically is suggested. Severe tooth decay, abscess or severe gingival disease are more likely causes of bone deterioration

Bone infections can sometimes take several weeks of antibiotics to cure and may also require surgical procedures to be performed to clean them out as well.

Depends: Depends on where you have it, what bone is involved, the extent of the infecitons and your overall health, medications and previous treatments.  You may need surgery to take out infected bone, then may need months of IV antibiotics, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and more of each of these depending on response.  You may need multiple doctors and treatments.  Good luck!

Bone infection: Long standing bone infection. Treated with long term antibiotics, sometimes intravenous . Rarely requires surgery to drain local infection or to get an accurate diagnosis.
