Yes, Normal: It is normal to have a numb area in your leg after back surgery.  I am assuming that he had a lumbar disc surgery.  Usually, this numbness gets better with time.  Time could be months.  It is nothing to worry about.

YES: Sounds like nerve impingement pain.You certainly should get this checked out immediately especially with it coming on so suddenly and if your doctor cannot work you in, the ER will be your best bet. Pain relief and diagnosis will be the benefit

Discuss: Talk to your surgeon. Hard wear could be causing the problem. May be it is not fixable, but your surgeon needs to review.

i had 2 back surgeries july 2017 (herniated disc) and had alot of numbness in my left leg. most numbess went away, only a little remained, until recently when numbness seems to be spreading in left leg.feel pins and needles sometimes in feet and leg?

Call FP or surgeon : While post surgical compression does occur, this time frame doesn’t fit. You will need an CT/ MRI of the affected area and a hands on exam to best determine the cause of these ‘new’ symptoms. Good luck

Neurology eval: Would suggest a full neurology evaluation. A different neurological condition may account for your symptoms. Your PCP should be able to further advise and refer as needed.

It may: This really depends on your imaging (mri/ct) scan.  If your neurological problems are arising from a spondylisthesis or foramenal stenosis, then performing an interbody fusion and increasing the height of the disc space (increasing foramenal space) and reducing the slip may improve your compression and therefore your symptoms.  But this depends on your full history, physical and images.  Good luck.

i have had back surgery, laminectomy, fusion & rod placement. i have nerve damage & suffer from numbness & tingling as well as pain in my back & legs. i take gabapentin 800mg bid.. i want to add tinazidine 2 mg can i add this and it be safe?

: You almost certainly have post-operative scarring with lumbosacral arachnoiditis, and tizanidine is unlikely to help.  Would consider switching gabapentin (at maximal dose) to Lyrica.  The use of a dorsal column spinal stimulator might be evaluated.  Would go to nearby medical school for updated opinions.

This is somewhat: dependent on what your diagnosis was and indications for the surgery as well as what type of surgery was performed.  Other factors include how much time has past since the surgery, smoking history , medical history and has anything happened since the surgery such as an injury that may have caused onset of these symptoms.   This is best reviewed with your surgeon to decide any actions needed.
