See Dentist: Nerve damage may take a while to heal, and most do.  This is to evaluate over the next weeks and months.  However your swelling is something else.  Usually using warm moist compresses on this area several times a day is the best thing to do.  Also starting on a short course of an antibiotic is in order since the swelling of tissue and fluid accumulation is a home for bacteria to flourish.

It happens: After the extraction of a lower wisdom tooth, there can be some lingering numbness. This usually means the roots of the extracted tooth were very close to the inferior alveolar nerve which runs the length of the lower jawbone. Often the feeling will come back. Sometimes it doesn't and that is one of the unfortunate rare side effects of wisdom tooth extractions. See your dentist or oral surgeon.
