Neither: Nucynta ER is for chronic pain.  Acute post-op pain is best trreated with a short acting opioid.

Get the confirmation: If you are taking your meds as prescribed and your provider is only doing a read-the-cup-in-the-office color-change test, then ask for your samples to be sent to the lab for urine drug screen confirmation. If you have a false-negative and are being threatened with discharge for noncompliance, then ask for the official reading. It's expensive, but you'll get to stay in your program!

Nucynta (tapentadol) ER: Nucynta (tapentadol) ER is a long acting version of Nucynta (tapentadol).  The ER is not intended for breakthrough pain.  Patients are normally given the ER version and then the regular short acting version for breakthrough pain.  Nucynta (tapentadol) ER is intended to to produce an effect for up to 24 hours in patients with normal kidney and liver function

Nucynta (tapentadol) ER: This is quite an effective pain medication. However at the dose above it would appear that you are being switched from another medication.  It is not common to start at this dose if you have never taken pain medications before.

Nucynta (tapentadol) is like opia: nucynta (tapentadol) ER is like a long lasting opiate.in that it interacts with opiate receptors and some people get a buzz from it. it does have addiction potential. So as you might have guessed I would say no. Tomorrow assuming no additional nycenta ER.

taken off nucynta (tapentadol) er 100mgx2 and nucynta (tapentadol) 50mgx3 and started on butrans 7.5.  new meds is not helping much w/pain,+mild withdrawal. any advice?

Drowsiness: if taken together may have additive effect and can make you dizzy and drowsy and there is a risk of depressing your breathing which is a big risk  for death

No interaction : There no interaction between Nucynta (tapentadol) ER and Cymbalta sometime for chronic pain conditions they are prescribed together .
