Please don't: Just change medications doses without speaking with your prescribing doctor. Medications like Nucynta (tapentadol) and Butrans and Nucynta (tapentadol) are both DEA controlled substances(III and II respectively). You don't want to mess around with these meds without guidance as it may lead to your doctor stop prescribing for you.

Pain taper: Your description indicates that you are being tapered off pain medication, though you do not indicate how long your took Nucynta (tapentadol) and over how many days you are being tapered down. I would call the physician prescribing these medications and discuss whether the tapering off of Nucynta (tapentadol) was too quick, or whether you need adjustment of Butrans. These decisions can only be made by your physician.
