Individual education: A coordinated plan to use educational resources benefits any kid with autism. Individual education plans describe the annual review & proposed plans for the coming year in kids with identified learning issues.In most areas, parents meat with the teachers & therapists to review current testing  & progress.This keeps people on a common path & allows the parent to sign & approve of plans (or not).

does it really matter if i took a stool sample from the toilet water for the hemoccult test? son has autism and refuses to have anything to catch it.

It would be better: to get it directly, especially if there is a trace of blood from skin or urine that's in the water. Did you try putting foil or plastic wrap between the seat and the rest of the toilet? Another way to do it is to take some of the stool from the toilet tissue you wipe him with (if you are wiping him).

No answer right now: At this time we do not know what causes autism or what could decrease the prevalence of autism.  We are searching for answers, but please do not think there is an action which would increase the chance of having autism or cause someone to have autism.

what vitamins can i give my son who is non-verbal and autistic and is going through puberty, is this why he is aggressive and hitting and scratching?

Any over the counter: Multivitamin is fine.  Puberty certainly may cause increase in aggressiveness since there is a surge of hormones, some mds may suggest Lexapro (escitalopram) in this situation.

my 5 years old autistic nephew is very aggressive(especially to his 2 yo sister), non verbal and sensory seeker. how effective would tenoten kids be for him ? they have tried a number of homeopathic medicines but nothing helps at all?

Very few studies: This medication is an anxiolytic drug and also used for mild depression. It works on the frontal lobes of the brain, so in a child this young who has very primitive development of the frontal lobes,  I  wouldn't hold out much hope. There is a current study ongoing by the NIH for use in 7-9 year olds with cognitive delays, but not much out there for use in kids with autism. ? if available in US.

Think audience: Think about to whom it is you are trying to explain and fit the explanation to them and the situation. For example, many kids don't understand that autistic youngsters might not get "I don't like that" (too abstract and emotion based) but will understand "Give back the ball." It takes some time and work but a lot of people will welcome understanding how they can talk effectively with your child.

Yes they can: It can be complicated as kids like copy cat behavior so it is hard to demarcate and depends on the age it is best to take the child to your paeds doctor and take discuss as it runs in family and may be just having fears of having other kids having soft signs may rule it out

Bizzarre behavior: This may be a self soothing mechanism like rocking, other consoling mechanisms.   Her severe autism leaves her without the normal social negative reinforcement of neurotypcal kids, meaning, she doesn't have the social awareness to remind her to stop the behavior.  You may have some degree of success with social skills training with a therapist.  Never spank her. Positive reinforcement works best!

Behavior therapy: Chldren with autism vary in terms of severity, so any approach really needs tto be based on a good understanding of your adolescent.  Sometimes simple minimal fines or consequneces work such as putting a quarter in a family jar.  Rewariding periods of time without cursing with a small token or favorite toy or object they like is a second strategy.  One size or approach does not fit all teens.
