Eustachian tube prob: The structure that usually keeps fluid from accumulating in the middle ear (the eustachian tube) is angled differently inside the infant and child than in the adult.  Until they grow larger and the angle of the tube changes, fluids consumed while laying flat are more likely to irritate or enter the middle ear space, possibly leading to infections.  Water is less of a problem than other fluids.

now that i have some epsom salt (for feet), is there any benefit or harm from doing a full body soak for 15 minutes in epsom salt bath?

Accepted Answer

Maybe: Epsom salt contains magnesium.  If it gets in the GI tract, it will cause diarrhea.  It is also a drying agent and may irritate "sensitive" tissue.  It is good to reduce scar tissue, stop constipation and to remove warts.

on 1.0 ativan at pm 20+ years. anxiety and sleep. never had to increase or fill early. have had cancer 2x . thru this time. feel great. sleep ok. exercise regularly. still work full time. hbp only other meds. any harm to continue with 1.0 ?

: Ativan(1.0 mg) has no serious side effects in younger patients. But once you get into your 70s, there is increased risk of Falls. I would discuss this issue with your PCP to determine the safety of taking Ativan as you grow older. Perhaps the dose can be reduced especially if you have any balance problems. There is risk of withdrawal from Ativan, so the dose reduction has to be done cautiously

i am virgin i had never do sex today i am go for intra vaginal ultrasound but it is pain full for me so my doctor can not check me properly so i want to know that intra vaginal ultrasound can cause harm or side effects for me??

: The insertion of the ultrasound probe into the vagina can tear any hymen if its opening is smaller than the probe. Slight bleeding would occur. This would have no long-term effect on your system. If you need to have the study it is a valuable method of gaining information.

NO: Unless specific guidelines were given to you by your ob/gyn to the contrary; normal sexual relations will not harm your fetus at all. Enjoy your pregnancy!

: This is absolutely harmless; the additional vaccine dose will only do your son good, not harm.

suffering from idiopathic rls, looking for alternative treatment so came across mucuna pruriens (cowhage) which reportedly used for parkinson's as well. is there any harm in trying the same for rls? can it be effective to an extent, if not fullly?

: Did research this "supplement" and it is touted to do lots of good, but there is no objective proof of any value other than manufacturer claims.  Do not even know if it is safe.  It is your choice, but doubt it will help your RLS.  I think you will be wasting your money.  Discuss with your doctor, and see of opinions might be useful.

Please see your Dr: Depression can be treated safely during pregnancy, and it is better to be treated for your baby's sake.  You are not alone.  Depression some time during pregnancy or in the postpartum period is 12-15%.

: Strongly urge you become assertive and work with gastroenterology consistently and chronically, and even get second opinions if dis-satisfied.   Stevens-Johnson Syndrome is indeed life threatening, and you were lucky and beat the odds.  Now, strive to enhance your daily life.  Go to your nearby medical school if necessary.  You can be helped.

Confusing question: If you are pregnant & have indigestion it will not harm the fetus. All babies have indigestion on occasion & it can lead to real fussy behavior.The  doc can provide some treatments if needed.
