it's been 3 weeks since i was diagnosed with bronchitis and i still have dry cough (though much much better).  taking mucinex (guaifenesin)...anything else to do?

Dry cough: Try delsym (dextromethorphan) if the cough is keeping you up. If this does not work, see your doctor. You may need to add a steroid to reduce the lung inflammation. Something like advair may be of benefit.

Certainly: You can take Mucinex (guaifenesin) along with a cough suppressant. Just make sure it does not have an expectorant in the ingredients already. Also drink plenty of liquids - warm or hot preferably to help thin out the thick  mucus clogging up your airways.

Cough: progressively worsening cough, even with no fever, would be a good reason to see your pediatrician. A complete examination and a detailed cough history would help to make a proper diagnosis and provide treatment as needed. Is the cough consistent? worse at certain times of day? Anything help cough or make cough worse? many times cough does not actually come from a problem in the lungs.

Yes, except: Be very sure to drink lots and lots of water - both when you take the medicine and all day. Also, please consider a doctor visit to discover if it is pneumonia or some other condition that requires more than symptomatic relief. Catching respiratory disease early can be a very wise decision. Take care of yourself!

PND: PND can be due to COPD or heart failure. If your symptoms are not getting better then you should not avoid a doctor’s visit. Treatment will depend on the cause of symptoms.

As long as there are not other concerning symptoms like high fever, shortness of breath, or blood in mucous then it is likely a simple upper respiratory infection which will resolve within a week or so. If it is due to a bacteria you might need antibiotics. In the meantime you can try a cough syrup for the symptom.
