Different doses of: MS Contin (morphine) and different doses of other Opiods. Slippery slope. Tolerance to opiods and addiction is real and common especially in the Young.

Herbs: Medicinal cannabis if it is legal in your state is an alternative to narcotic pain medications.  Also eating a more alkaline diet my help.  Acupuncture. Deep meditation.  There are various herbs but this is not my specialty.  Recommend following up with a pain management specialist and/or homeopathic specialist.  There are also doctors of natural medicine possibly in your area.

Same as anyone else: If the diabetic is prone to very low or very high blood sugars, the morphine may increase the sedation or even cause unconsciousness. For the pain that comes from nerve damage from diabetes, there may be other classes of meds that work better without as many side effects.

Okay combination: Some of the side effects of the morphine in ms contin are similar to low blood sugar; itching, sweating, for example may mimic hypoglycemia.  You might have to check your sugar level to be sure.

No maximum: There is no maximum number of years.  Often tolerance will develope over time which may require a change to a different drug or an increased dose.

No direct effects: Could worsen Insulin overdose or ketoacidosis from extremelyy high blood suger but wouldn''t cause either of these conditions. It would occur by causing more sedation and be additive to the sedation caused by these conditions.

Withdrawal: It is unlikely that you would experience true physical withdrawal symptoms from waiting somewhat over 8 hours between MS Contin (morphine) doses.

MS Contin (morphine): is typically used for treatment of pain due to terminal cancer. I suppose it could be used for neuropathic pain if it is due to amyloidosis.  I suggest you read about treatment and work up for neuropathic pain. Make sure you have addressed the underlying condition(s) that have lead to you having neuropathy

Yes: Developing tolerance to an opiate is inevitable.It's a normal physiological event.This is NOT addiction which is a craving for more meds beyond what is reasonable for pain control leading to deceptive/destructive behavior.Truth is, more people appear to have 'addictive behavior' when insufficient opiates are used;then they request more which scares the dr.Oxycontin is a good med when used right.
