The carcinoid syndrome is primarily associated with metastatic carcinoid tumors usually from the midgut - to the liver. Carcinoid is a type of cancer- neuroendocrine tumor.

Somatostatin analogs (SSAs, like octreotide, lanreotide, pasireotide) can help

Symptoms occur in hours.
