Carcinoid syndrome: Is a constellation of symptoms resulting from carcinoid tumors, including flushing, diarrhea & cardiomyopathy. The tumor secretes serotonin & kallikrein . The most important early test is the 24 hour urine screen for 5-hiaa (5-hydroxy indol acetic acid) which is the end product of serotonin metabolism.

It is well known med: A well known medical condition, it is caused by carcinoid tumors, mostly found in the abdomen. It consists of repeated flushing of the skin which can turn you into red beet like skin especially on your face. Most people also have frequent diarrhea along with the episodes of flushing. These are slow growing tumors and can go on for many years.
