Hours: Carcinoid syndrome is symptoms associated with carcinoid tumors -- tumors of the small intestine, colon, appendix, and lungs. These tumors release too much serotonin, and other chemicals that cause the blood vessels to open (dilate) leading to flushing of the face, neck or chest. .Sometimes symptoms are brought on by exercise, red wine, blue cheese that contains tyramine. Symptoms occur in hours.
