Possible: Under the care of a specialized psychiatrist as dose adjustment and frequent monitoring is needed. Prozac may increase the serum concentration of risperidone otherwise and if prescribed by different prescribers make sure they are all aware of all the pills you are taking.

Neither are MAOI: Citalopram is an antidepressant in a class of drugs called serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They are not related to MAOI.
Risperidone is a second generation antipsychotic . Again unrelated to MAOI.

Not likely: Risperidone is a dopamine and serotonin blocker, and doesn't directly affect acetylcholine transmission.  Studies in animals and humans have shown risperidone may increase acetylcholine activity in the cerebral cortex through indirect actions, and this may account for some of its positive clinical effects e.g. on cognition in schizophrenia.

It is also used for schizoaffective disorder and as a mood stabilizer in bipolar disorder. Must restart meds: My firm and immediate recommendation is that you go back on your medication so that you don't have any type of withdrawal symptoms at all. Hallucinations are absolutely no fun. Your dose of Risperidone is very low and you're on a very moderate dose of zoloft (sertraline). If you're having difficulty with side effects of the medication please contact your psychiatrist to discuss it with him immediately. Never stop the medication precipitously on your own. Best wishes.

Depends: After taking medications like Haldol (haloperidol) for an extended period of time, some have something called withdrawal dyskinesias when stopping those medications. This means abnormal muscle movements which should go away in time. The other problem can be a return of the symptoms which were present in the first place for which the meds were prescribed, like psychosis. Check with your doctor first.

: We are advised that resperidone can cause prolongation of both the QT &amp;QTc with both regular doses and with an overdose. It also has been show to cause EEG abnormalities and could affect or rarely cause seizure disorders. I've used it in multiple patients in extended care facilities through the years without incident, but would avoid is use in certain patients.

: Psychotic episodes are a very serious thing. It may be that you are psychologically very normal now because of the meds. Any change in psych meds has to be very carefully monitored as the withdrawal period can result in tragic reactions such as suicidality and more severe psychotic reactions. Additionally, psych meds take up to 6-8 weeks for the body to become accustomed to them. Give it time.

Different meds: Each person is different.  Chlorpromazine (thorazine) is in a class of antipsychotic medications called neuroleptics. For some people with psychotic disorders it is just the right medication. However, i believe that most psychiatrists would  want a trial of a newer class of medication called atypical antipsychotics first (side effect profile & effect on negative symptoms of schizophrenia). &gt;&gt;.
