i have been prescribed propranolol for anxiety and hypertension.can this medication make my heart rate and pulse too low when i am not anxious? my pulse at rest is between 60-75bpm and bp138/88 est.

Can lower hr: Your doc will monitor your hr ; BP but not being anxious shouldn't b a problem.

i have noticed that i can always see a pulse in my neck, both sides just the other side of my adams apple area. i do suffer with anxiety and i am taking medication for hypertension. otherwise i eat well and stay active. should i be worried?

See MD: Studies show that palpitations, when lasting several minutes can be more than an anxiety attack. A full history and physical exam is indicated, listening to your heart tones and taking an EKG to look at cardiac conduction parameters in addition to Zio patch testing if history 1st dg relative sudden cardiac death or if they last several minutes or cause BP to drop. suggestions to discuss with my doctor: hypertension (on avapro 150 now), anxiety, and pvcs. what medication would you consider? ssri, beta blocker, thiazide diuretic, combination of any? want to start beta b, but weary of rebound tachyarrhythmias?

My thoughts : I eschew beta blockers due to adverse effects such as fatigue, exercise intolerance, syncope, asthma, cognition issues, cardiac complications, and stopped years ago. Many newer anti-BP meds (even use of cocoa). Meet with your doctor

Chicken & egg: Anxiety can cause hypertension, ie, high blood pressure, and in some cases hypertension (due to other causes) can lead to anxiety too.  Anxiety causes the "fight or flight response": stress hormones are released and the sympathetic nervous system is activated.  These cause blood vessels to squeeze tighter & the heart beats harder,  thus increasing the blood pressure within those vessels.

Stress may lead to: hypertension by constricting surface blood vessels as part of the fight/flight response.  If this emergency response is set off too often or stays on too long, blood pressure may become persistently elevated.  Skin temperature biofeedback is an effective treatment. There are many: Causes of hypertension. Anxiety may exacerbate the condition; therefore, learning how to reduce stress and anxiety can improve control and help reduce BP along with medication.

had bp reading of 167/104 but i was anxious. i have anxiety disorder and am only 21. do i have hypertension or is it that high bc of anxiety?

One reading only: Although this blood pressure reading is elevated- you don't diagnose hypertension off of one value. If you were particularly anxious or had been physically active that could elevate the numbers. It is best to take BP when you are calm and at rest to determine what your normal baseline in. Would need a minimum of 3 readings.

im measuring my blood pressure cause i'm query hypertension, but my initial number is always high (i have anxiety so i always check again) and the next two measurements are lower and lower again.. is this normal?

: 
This is called the alerting response as squeezing your arm is sensed as something that may need you to flee or fight. So BP goes up just in case. Then body changes it mind and adapts. I recommend you take BP every min till it stops going down the take 3 more readings and average those. Take same time of day and use exactly the right sized cuff, positioning etc. Can also have Dr do 24 hr BP.

i'm 16, noticed a visible pulse in sync with heartbeat in stomach. never noticed before. this normal? have hypertension. strong heartbeat. anxiety

Could be normal: But, even though it would be rare at your age, an aortic or other arterial aneurysm should be ruled out. Sometimes this can be done with physical examination, but an arterial ultrasound is more accurate.

i take an arb (losartan) for hypertension but still notice occasional spikes due to anxiety. hr rate increases also. is a beta blocker better for this?

Add betablocker: Addition of a betablocker will help to control spikes due to anxiety.
