Several weeks: You don't need the max dose to get the max effect. 
If used to relieve symptoms of arthritis 2 tab bid time contingent or around the clock. You also get the analgesic benefit for mild to moderate pain. Take in consideration that you  may experience serious side effects during treatment with this medicine. Make sure that your doctor check your progress at regular visits.

Aleve (naproxen): According to the latest research aleve (naproxen) is a better anti inflammatory agent.
The maximum daily dose 1100mg.
Otc 220mg 2 tabs every 12 hours.

what do you suggest if i'm taking naproxen and i have already had the max dose for a 24 hr period. how long do i wait before i start taking it again?

Take the right dose: Naproxen, like other nsaids, can be toxic to the kidney (and possibly liver) if taken at excessive doses. The maximum dose should be 500mg taken twice daily (at least 10 hours apart, not more than 2 doses within 24hr).If you take 1000mg at once, you are overdosing. Be sure to always take with food to avoid gastric ulcers. If you need more pain-relief, take tylenol (acetaminophen) (after checking with your doctor.

NSAIDs for OA.: Either would be fine, as they both have both anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.  Naproxen is twice daily dosing, so may be easier to take.  Both should be taken with food.  Maximum daily dose would be printed on the bottle.

Yes, however: Yes, there are no significant interactions between Dayquil and Aleve. 
I do not know why you are taking these though with you taking Dayquil am guessing you have a cold/cough.
Know that these medicines only treat symptoms and do not address the cause. Vitamin C, zinc and herbs like Umcka and Andrographis help fight viral infections and homeopathy can treat symptoms as well as speed recovery.

For childern: For adults they are standard doses based usually on a 70 kg man.
Always best to look up doses and double check them each time anyway.

Standard: There is no benefit for taking more than 600 mg 3 times a day or 500 mg 2 times a day even for a person of your size.  If the NSAIDs are not helping consider adding acetaminophen or seeing your doctor about another agent. Taking NSAIDs at high does does come with risks so it is best to minimize your intake or use for short periods as needed.

can i take aleve (naproxen) to temporarily halt my period for a special occasion? what would be the dosage?

Aleve (naproxen) won't help: Nothing can slow/delay a menstrual period(mother nature rules!). But if you want to try, use the stuff available over the counter which is usually of half strength, so you may have to double the dose. But do not take it more than twice a day and limit it to no more than 2-3 days. It can cause stomach ulcers!

Yes: There is no pain reliever in the robitussin (guaifenesin).
