Standard: There is no benefit for taking more than 600 mg 3 times a day or 500 mg 2 times a day even for a person of your size. If the NSAIDs are not helping consider adding acetaminophen or seeing your doctor about another agent. Taking NSAIDs at high does does come with risks so it is best to minimize your intake or use for short periods as needed.

Yes: Surprisingly, a new study revealed that moms who gained excessive amounts during their pregnancies tended to have children who battled their own obesity issues. The causes were unclear, but, of course, genetics did seem to play a contributing role. The take-home message? Childhood obesity does start before birth.

Swim, bike, eat less: A person's back, hips, knees, and ankles take on a lot of stress when he carries a heavy backpack or gains 50-100 pounds in weight. Obesity can worsen joint problems such as pain, swelling, difficulty walking, or trouble climbing stairs. Even if the original cause of the joint problems were from other diseases or injuries, the heavier a person is, the more wear and tear the joints have to endure.

I cut my hand at work and now my thumb is numb. Do I have a nerve damage?

Cannot tell immediat: Local tissue swelling will make you feel numb so it is tough to judge regarding nerve injury. Once the swelling subsides if there is weakness then it might be nerve injury. The one product i like for toes and fingers is called polymem toes and fingers you can just plug this on the area and the dressing itself cleans, takes away pain and heals, dressing can be left in place for 7 days.

YES -- get HELP!: Ibuprofen, and other nsaid's, particularly in a dose-dependent fashion (based on milligrams consumed & duration of use) can cause ulcers in any part of the GI tract. Due to the platelet inhibition effect of ibuprofen, ulcers caused by it may indeed bleed massively. If that is the scenario you're describing--immmediately stop taking Ibuprofen and get to the er!
